류현진, 동료들에게 한식 대접

토론토 블루제이스의 류현진이 동료들에게 한식을 대접했다.
토론토 시내 있는 한 한식당은 16일(이하 한국시간) 인스타그램 계정을 통해 "오늘 블루제이스의 새로운 선발 투수 류현진이 80인분의 식사를 주문한 것을 큰 영광으로 받아들이고 있다. 우리는 수많은 갈비와 등심을 구웠고 다른 식사를 몇시간에 걸쳐 준비했다"고 소개했다.
류현진은 이날 여름캠프 훈련을 치른 선수단에게 한식을 대접하기 위해 80인분의 식사를 주문했다. 계속된 격리 생활에 지쳐 있었던 동료들에게 만족스런 반응을 얻었다는 후문.
그는 이전에도 종종 선수단에게 한식을 대접해왔다. 어깨 수술 이후 재활을 할 때도 마이너리그 재활 등판을 가면 마이너리그 선수들에게 한식을 대접하기도 했다.
과정이 쉽지는 않았다. 격리 지역에 외부 음식을 들이는 일이기 때문이다. 블루제이스 선수단은 현재 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확산 방지 차원에서 홈구장 로저스센터와 부속 호텔에 격리된 상태로 훈련중이다.
류현진의 식사 대접을 도운 구단 관계자는 "규정에 다 맞춰야해서 힘들었지만, 도움을 받아 잘 해결했다"고 전했다.
블루제이스 선수단은 오는 25일 탬파베이 레이스와 원정경기를 시작으로 60경기 시즌에 들어간다. greatnemo@maekyung.com
