아카데미 시상식, 코로나19 사태로 전격 연기…내년 4월 25일 개최

미국 영화계에서 최고 권위를 자랑하는 아카데미상 시상식이 코로나19 사태로 전격 연기됐다.
아카데미상을 주관하는 미 영화예술아카데미(AMPAS)는 15일(현지시간) 제93회 아카데미상 시상식을 내년 4월 25일에 개최하기로 했다고 AP통신 등이 보도했다.
93회 시상식은 내년 2월 28일 열릴 예정이었으나 계획보다 8주 밀렸다.
코로나19로 지난 3월 중순부터 극장이 폐쇄되고, 신작 영화 개봉이 줄줄이 밀린 상황에서 미국에서 상영된 한해의 영화를 총결산하는 아카데미 측이 결국 시상식 연기 결정을 내린 것으로 분석된다.

AFP통신은 "코로나19로 할리우드 영화 개봉 일정에 큰 혼란이 생기면서 시상식이 연기됐다"며 "올해 개봉된 영화만으로 시상식을 열기에는 무리가 있다는 우려가 작용한 것"이라고 말했다.
아카데미상 시상식이 연기된 것은 역대 네 번째로, 원래 개최 시점인 내년 2월을 기준으로 40년 만에 시상식 일정이 조정됐다고 CNN방송은 보도했다.
AP통신은 시상식을 8개월이나 앞둔 시점에서 연기 결정을 내린 적은 이번이 처음이라고 전했다.
